The NASTEC with the participation of large number of leading scientists, economists, technologists, policy makers and other stakeholders in Sri Lanka, developed the National Research and Development Framework (NRDF), which had identified 10 focus areas where immediate interventions are needed. The NRDF has identified 10 areas to focus on and several significant issues under them. The newly appointed Chairperson of NASTEC, Prof. Sirimali Fernando assumed duties at the NASTEC on March 11, 2019.
Prof.Sirimali Fernando started her career as a MBBS qualified medical practitioner in 1982. . She started her academic career as a lecturer in Microbiology in 1985 in the Medical Faculty of University of Ruhuna and was subsequently promoted to senior lecturer in 1993. She worked as a research Fellow and a Registrar/ Senior registrar in Virology at St Georges medical School, London, UK for 5 years since 1989-1993 where she completed her postgraduate studies.Read More
ICCBS Fellowship in Natural Products Chemistry, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals: Call for Applications for 2019-20
National Science and Technology Commission (NASTEC) is the focal point of the Center for Science and Technology of Non-Aligned and other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Center), India. NASTEC provides training opportunities for the scientists and technologists in Sri Lanka with the respective announcement released by the NAM S&T Centre to its member countries.
The NAM S&T Center has forwarded an announcement for International Fellowship on Joint NAM S&T Centre - "ICCBS Fellowship in Natural Products Chemistry, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals: Call for Applications for 2019-20.
Herewith, NASTEC is pleased to circulate this announcement by inviting the interested individuals to apply. Applications recommended by the parent institutions of the applicants must be submitted to the Acting Director, National Science & Technology Commission (NASTEC) for endorsement before forwarding to the NAM S&T Centre. The NAM S&T Centre pays the return international airfare from the home country to Karachi to the selected Fellows and ICCBS provides free furnished accommodation and a monthly allowance of US$250 for meals and out of pocket expenses to the selected Fellows.
There is no last date for submitting applications and selection will be made on first-cum-first basis strictly based on the professional details of the applicant, plan of work to be carried out and mutual research interests of the applicant and ICCBS. Copies of the guidelines for the Fellowship and the application form are attached. Please go through the attached broacher (Annexure -1) before filling the application.
In matter of selection, the decision of NAM S&T Center will be the final.
