The NASTEC with the participation of large number of leading scientists, economists, technologists, policy makers and other stakeholders in Sri Lanka, developed the National Research and Development Framework (NRDF), which had identified 10 focus areas where immediate interventions are needed. The newly appointed Chairperson of NASTEC, Prof. Sirimali Fernando assumed duties at the NASTEC on March 11, 2019.
Prof.Sirimali Fernando started her career as a MBBS qualified medical practitioner in 1982. . She started her academic career as a lecturer in Microbiology in 1985 in the Medical Faculty of University of Ruhuna and was subsequently promoted to senior lecturer in 1993. She worked as a research Fellow and a Registrar/ Senior registrar in Virology at St Georges medical School, London, UK for 5 years since 1989-1993 where she completed her postgraduate studies.Read More
Nam S&T Centre Research Fellowship: Call For Applications For 2018-19
Greetings from the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre)!!
The Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre; www.namstct.org) is pleased to invite applications from the scientists and researchers from its member countries and NAM S&T–Industry Network members for the NAM S&T Centre Research Fellowship for the year 2018-19.
Under this Fellowship Scheme, only one scientist / researcher each from any given member country or member of the NAM S&T–Industry Network of the NAM S&T Centre may be selected in the year strictly on competitive basis for affiliation with a scientific / academic / R&D agency or / industrial establishment in another member country of the NAM S&T Centre for any length of period more than three weeks, subject to the host country agreeing to provide full local hospitality (including accommodation, food and local travel and/or a subsistence allowance in lieu thereof, as may be required) to the selected Fellow.
Under this scheme, the NAM S&T Centre will provide the return international airfare between the home country of each selected applicant and the country where the host institute is located. However, the applicants from those member countries or NAM S&T–Industry Network members, which have outstanding dues towards the annual membership subscription to the Centre, if selected, will have to bear their international airfare from their own sources to avail this Fellowship.
Interested scientists / researchers may submit their applications to the NAM S&T Centre after getting the same recommended by the Focal Points of the NAM S&T Centre in their respective countries in the prescribed format and also enclosing a letter from the host institution inviting the applicant for affiliation with the institution for a stipulated period with a confirmation that the full local hospitality would be provided to the applicant during the period of affiliation with the host institution.
There is no last date for submitting the application, which will be considered on first-come-first basis. The Guidelines and blank Application Form for the Fellowship are enclosed.
