Technopreneurship for Developing Countries: International Training Workshop, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 11-15 March 2019
New Year Greetings from the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre)!!
Technological development and innovation are the dominating factors in the present day industrial advancement and play a crucial role in sustainability, expansion and wealth creation in any enterprise. The essence lies in capturing a real perception of human needs and the development of innovative products and services. Technopreneurship is one of the emergent concepts in the topical developments, which helps in applying creativity, thrive in response to global challenges, and look for unconventional solutions. A successful entrepreneur is expected to possess managerial proficiency to effectively utilise the available resources; make appropriate feasibility analysis; and have skills in marketing, human resource, financial and manufacturing management and networking. Besides these, a techno-entrepreneur should be able to organise, manage and take the risk of adopting a technology along with other entrepreneurial qualities, such as business ethics, early enterprise management, corporate laws and regulations to start and run a business enterprise. In summary, technopreneurship is inculcating the capabilities in a potential entrepreneur to operate a small business with the judicious use of technology as well as use it to provide a greater value to the customer. Additionally, it also implies the need to embrace the latest technological breakthroughs, for example, IoT, artificial intelligence and big data, and tap into disruptive technologies for innovation and growth.
With the above in view, the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Centre) in partnership with the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC) announces the organisation of an International Training Workshop on ‘Technopreneurship for Developing Countries’ in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 11-15 March 2019.
